Shipping & Delivery

How long does delivery take?

Most in-stock orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days. Delivery times vary by location: metro areas typically receive orders within 3–5 business days, while regional and remote areas may take 5–10 business days. Large items such as espresso machines may require a separate freight booking — we'll contact you to arrange a suitable delivery window.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and the size/weight of your order. We offer free shipping on qualifying orders — check the cart for current thresholds. Freight items (machines over a certain weight) may incur a separate delivery fee, which will be clearly displayed before you confirm your order.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently we ship within Australia only. If you're based overseas and interested in a product, please get in touch and we'll do our best to assist.

Can I track my order?

Yes. Once your order is dispatched, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number. You can use this to monitor your delivery in real time via the carrier's website.

Warranty

What warranty do your products carry?

All products sold by Sip N Smile are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Warranty periods vary by brand and product — typically 12–24 months for espresso machines and grinders. Full warranty details are listed on each product page. In addition to manufacturer warranties, your purchase is protected by Australian Consumer Law.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Contact us directly via our Contact page with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos or video if applicable. We'll liaise with the manufacturer on your behalf and arrange repair, replacement, or refund as appropriate under the warranty terms.

Does the warranty cover commercial use?

Most manufacturer warranties apply to domestic use only. If you're purchasing for a café or commercial environment, please contact us before ordering — we can advise on suitable models and applicable commercial warranty options.

Returns & Refunds

What is your returns policy?

We accept returns on unused, unopened items within 30 days of delivery. Items must be in original packaging and condition. Please contact us before returning any item to receive a Return Authorisation number. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer unless the item is faulty or incorrectly supplied.

What if my item arrives damaged or faulty?

If your order arrives damaged or with a fault, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage and packaging. We'll arrange a replacement or refund promptly at no cost to you.

Can I return a machine I've used?

Used machines can only be returned if they are faulty or not as described. Change-of-mind returns on used equipment are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our team to discuss your situation.

Machine Setup & Installation

Is professional installation required?

Most home espresso machines are plug-and-play and do not require professional installation. Plumbed-in machines (those connected directly to a water line) should be installed by a licensed plumber. We recommend reviewing the product manual before setup, and our team is happy to walk you through the process over the phone or email.

Do you offer setup support?

Yes. We provide setup guidance for all machines we sell. Whether it's dialling in your grinder, calibrating your espresso machine, or understanding your machine's settings, our team is available to assist. Reach us via the Contact page.

What accessories do I need to get started?

At minimum, you'll need a quality grinder, a tamper, and a knock box. Depending on your machine, you may also want a milk jug, a distribution tool, and a cleaning kit. Our team can recommend a complete starter bundle based on your machine — just ask.

Water Quality & Filtration

Why does water quality matter for espresso?

Water makes up over 90% of your espresso. Mineral content, hardness, and chlorine levels all affect extraction quality and machine longevity. Water that is too hard causes scale build-up; water that is too soft can cause corrosion. Most manufacturers specify an ideal water hardness range — typically 50–150 ppm total dissolved solids (TDS).

Do I need a water filter?

If your tap water is hard (above 150 ppm TDS), a water filter or softener is strongly recommended to protect your machine and improve flavour. Many premium machines include a built-in filter cartridge. We stock a range of compatible filters — contact us if you're unsure which is right for your machine.

Can I use bottled or filtered water?

Yes, but not all bottled water is suitable. Avoid distilled or reverse-osmosis water (too soft) and high-mineral mineral water (too hard). Look for water with a TDS of 75–150 ppm. If in doubt, a purpose-built espresso water filter is the most reliable solution.

Descaling & Maintenance

How often should I descale my machine?

Descaling frequency depends on your water hardness and how often you use the machine. As a general guide, descale every 2–3 months for daily home use with moderately hard water. Many machines have a built-in descale alert — follow the manufacturer's recommendation. Using filtered water significantly extends the interval between descales.

What descaler should I use?

Always use a descaler approved by your machine's manufacturer. Using incompatible products can void your warranty and damage internal components. We stock manufacturer-approved descaling solutions for all major brands we carry.

What other regular maintenance is required?

Beyond descaling, regular maintenance includes: backflushing (for machines with a 3-way solenoid valve), cleaning the group head and portafilter daily, replacing the water filter cartridge as scheduled, and lubricating the group head gasket periodically. Refer to your machine's manual for a full maintenance schedule, or contact us for guidance.

Do you offer financing or buy now, pay later?
